Gary Palmer is the Strategic Lead for Children and Young People for London Sport. He has 27 years education and community sport experience in the sport and physical activity sector. This experience has come from working for and with a broad spectrum of organisations including schools and colleges, local authorities, national organisations and central government.
He currently sits on the National County Sport Partnership Network Children and Young People Board, the London Healthy Schools Strategic Advisory Group, the Black Prince Trust Advisory Board and 7 Strategic Community Sport and Physical Activity Networks across London.
A fully qualified teacher, Gary taught in state secondary education for 15 years. Since leaving teaching in 2004, career highlights include working on the UK Government’s National Strategy for Physical Education and School Sport, implementing the London Sport strategy to make London the most active city in the world and writing and implementing physical activity and school sport strategies for a number of local authorities across London.
