Chris Moran

Chris is The Guardian’s Editor for strategic Projects, having previously spent seven years as the Audience Editor in the London newsroom, a role he personally established. He led the team responsible for finding the widest, most relevant audience for The Guardian’s outstanding journalism across the internet, from search to social and external referral. He created the concept of responsible reach and has been critical in defining best digital practice at The Guardian. He is the co-creator of Ophan, The Guardian’s disruptive, class-leading real-time analytics tool that began as a hack-day project in 2012. It is now used by more than 1,000 people a month.
